Wright Mairitime Group
A Brief History and the Guiding Principle of Wright Maritime Group llc

Innovation, Enlightenment and Courage

Those are a few of the words many people used to describe our company founder's early pronouncements on an industry code of ethics, business practices and how a shore company can appropriately support a yacht's management.

In the late 1990's Captain AJ Anderson was published in leading industry publications on the subject of ethical standards for the yacht industry. Several thousand words of thoughtful debate were published on the subject and our company was bound to serve as an industry example.

In 2002 the Yacht Report asked Captain AJ to write a series of articles to yacht owners. This series of six articles covered topics ranging from yacht management, brokerage, new construction to ethics... These articles received a very positive response from owners and some of the industry while also receiving heated responses from some of the large yacht management houses and brokerages. AJ's general theme was that the industry must do more to protect the interest of the owners and to create a higher standard of business practices.

How the company was founded

In the early 1990's Captain AJ was asked by a northern European yacht enthusiast to oversee the construction of his yacht.

One of the conditions of the offer was that AJ would create a company in which his new client would remunerate and generally correspond.

The prospective yacht owner told our 'yet to be' company founder all he had to do was come up with the company name and he would do the rest.

While AJ Anderson's name was well known in the industry, he did not want a company associated with his name; the idea was that it would be less about the person and more about the 'Team'.

Then there was the more important matter of AJ's desire to demonstrate his love and respect to his mother, Patricia Wright - so he chose her maiden name, WRIGHT, as the basis for the company name then to Wright, he added Maritime and Group.

Maritime was an obvious choice and Group was chosen as the founder envisioned a number of competency focused business units working under a single set of business principles: WMG.

These principles are intrinsically based on business practices that have a determined focus on making people better off for having been touched by Wright Maritime.

The Main Principle: It is strict company policy that employees ensure that everyone they come into contact with walk away better-off for the conversation and contact as momentary as it may be. Our clients and crews are to be better-off for our services and products. Service providers, vendors, shipyards, marinas, agents and even other companies working in Wright Maritime's capacity are meant to be better-off due to Wright Maritime's role in the industry. This truth is the fundamental principle of Wright Maritime.

All of the Wright Brothers & Sisters are dedicated to their individual obligation to help the company fulfill this Principle.

Wright Maritime's founder has given this business practice a title...

"Enlightened Capitalism"
